1. I think overall my spray-painted stencil was the most successful this semester. Not only do I think that, but I enjoyed it the most out of everything we did. It was so relaxed and it wasn't something that freaked me out while doing it. I just loved thinking about coming to class and working on this project. This project is very interesting and takes many complex steps to get to the final product. I am very pleased with how mine came out. I love the picture because it represents me and how I am always smiling and a happy person. I also love the colors of it. I think they go really well and I'm glad I picked those. The overall final look of it is great and that is why I think its the most successful. This is because it is a very clean look. Unlike some of my other products, this one is neat and you can clearly see what it is. Another reason why this is my favorite project is because the spray paint was really fun to use. I have never really worked with that before and I also learned about techniques while working with it. I don't think I would change anything about this piece of artwork and that's why it was so successful. I hope people enjoyed looking at this as much as I did in the art show. In the end, I am so glad I got to do this project and am very happy with the results.
2. I really disliked this project. I struggled with it when I was making the skeleton. This was one of the first projects we did in this class and at the time I knew nothing about drawing and how to complete it. I just kind of went with it and in the end I am not completely happy with how it turned out. But it is okay because I actually learned a lot while completing it! I now know how to make the inner skeleton. Also this was the first time I actually drew something so I started learning about lines and simple things needed to know while drawing. I also grew a lot. Before I did this I didn't even know how to draw at all. My skills have really grown. I developed my skills that I used all throughout this course in this unit and that's why it was a great thing to start with and teach the basics of drawing with. Overall this project was so important to start the beginning of my long road of art this year. I bet if I went back now and drew this, it would be ten times better! This made me see I have improved a lot and it helped me get through this class.
3. I learned a lot while completing this project. I haven't done clay in a really long time and this helped me learn more about making things with it. I also learned some things I've never done before. But there were also some things I did already know that I incorporated into my final product. For example, while making this clay tile, I had to use value. Since the clay pops out, it is very clear what is more frontward in this piece. I made the closer parts of it darker to add some value because they would be closer to the sun. That is why there are tints of gray in some of the more back parts because its farther from the sun. I think I understand value a little more now that I have used it again. This helped having a 3-D object show me. When I first did value I didn't understand where I was suppose to put the darker colors and the lighter ones but doing this project, it all became clear to me. Also, I think if you look back it would show that I did grow and I have began to master this skill in art.
4. Though this project was very fun to complete, I don't think it was very important. If you think about different types of artwork, most common things involve drawings or paintings. Printmaking doesn't really seem that important. Overall we didn't really use any skills that we learned at the beginning of the semester. It was a whole new thing that took totally new skills. Most of the things we learned and took notes on that applied in other pieces of art did not apply in this specific piece. I feel we could have been learning more useful things about developing our art skills. The things we learned while doing this cant really help us while doing anything else. This project didn't tie back to the main things needed to be covered in this course unlike most of the projects we did while taking this class.
5. This piece of artwork sums up my work this semester in Art 1. This is a personal piece. I took the picture myself when I was at a soccer game and behind the trees were these train tracks. This makes it more personal because I had the chance to tie my love for taking pictures and my enjoyment for painting together. This painting will help me remember that personal moment and really made it special. This art reflects me as an artist. This is way beyond what I ever thought I could accomplish. When I first started this class, I hardly knew anything. I didn't even know where to start. Since this is the last thing we did it really takes all I learned and puts it together in one art piece. It shows many things I learned, and shows how my painting skills grew and developed along the way. I am so pleased with this painting because it is one of the best things I have ever drawn/painted. I can look back to this painting in many years and remember how I grew as an artist and how everything I worked for in this class finally paid off in this piece. Overall, I think this class was a success for me because I didn't know I could do half the things I did do! I am happy I took this class and found out I'm not that bad of an artist!
