Contour Shoe

Contour lines are very important when drawing. They help improve your drawings. They helped with this picture of my shoe. I used them in many ways by not picking my pencil up and drawing one continuous line. It helped because I could just look at the shoe and focus on it without looking down. The line in general looks better because its more full and adds a finished looked. If it was sketchy then it wouldn't look as finished. I think contour lines really have an effect on the drawings and helps make it look like a real drawing that's easier to draw.

IPad Value Study

This is my Ipad value study drawing. It was done on an ipad on an app which helps with layers. Another thing it does is it great for smudging. On my hand made drawings, the blending weren't that good because I didn't have technology to help me with this project. Either way, I still got a good idea on how to draw these forms and how to shade. A similarity between the two methods is they do look pretty similar. Whether on the Ipad or paper, you still get a result that looks like this and you want them both to turn out like this. So other than the fact that smudging is much easier on the ipad, this project has the same concept using anything. I learned technology is important in art because its just another way if you cant use paper and pastels to have a similar result. Also technology is very big today and soon, many artists will be using it more and more so I think its important we understand how to use it.

Cartoon Skeleton

For my cartoon character, I choose Mickey Mouse. I like his body shape and thought it was very similar to the human body for many reasons. One of those reasons is it has all the primary bone structures. For example it has a spine, arms, legs, hands, and feet. That's basically what the human has as far as bone structures go. Although it looks like a simple skeleton drawing, it has more to it. I got creative with it considering its Mickey Mouse and I needed to do something fun. So since Mickey's feet are really big, I also drew the bones of the feet rather large too. That is the same thing with the hands, I made fingers longer and bigger. Another thing is the spine. I made it curve a little bit because Mickeys body is curving naturally. That is how I made Mickeys Skeleton look believable.
